Don't let yourself feel stressed because of the pain. Chiropractors provide the treatment you need and the care you deserve using safe, non-invasive, and trusted techniques.
Are you ready to feel great again? Chiropractic care is made just for you.
What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic is a conservative care treatment option for people suffering from joint and muscular pain syndromes involving the spine and extremities.
Chiropractic care involves spinal manipulation, known as adjustments, using manual, hands-on techniques or specially designed tools, as well as active and passive modalities, such as:
- Exercise instruction
- Stretching techniques
- Heat
- Muscle stimulation
At our State College chiropractic care clinic, we evaluate your spine and its surrounding soft tissues to determine exactly what structures are causing your symptoms. Once defined, we provide a tailored treatment to these areas that will decrease pain, increase range of motion, and restore normal function to your spine, joints, and muscles.
Our goal is to find balance in the musculoskeletal system so your body can function as it is meant to. Through our safe, holistic solutions, you will thrive.
Is chiropractic care safe?
We’re often asked if chiropractic care is safe; the short answer is yes. Working with a trusted and experienced chiropractor is key, as your doctor will be able to determine whether chiropractic care is what you need.
Chiropractic care is one of the safest and least invasive forms of treatment.
Not only does chiropractic care have an outstanding reputation for natural healing, but it also offers numerous benefits that support a healthy lifestyle.
While every patient is different, in many cases, your treatment will result in rapid, if not immediate, relief. You may experience some soreness following the treatment; however, this slight discomfort should not last more than 24 hours.
When to seek chiropractic care
Chiropractors are known as “Portal of Entry” doctors. This means you are free to seek a chiropractic consultation at any time you choose, with any chiropractor you choose, without a prescription from your medical doctor or primary care physician.
You should seek chiropractic care following an injury or when you first notice painful symptoms such as:
- Neck pain
- Upper back pain
- Low back pain or lumbar pain
- Headaches
- Foot and ankle pain
- Radiating pain to the arms or legs
- Tingling and numbness in the arms and legs
- Shoulder pain
- Elbow pain (including tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow)
- Hip pain and sciatica
- Herniated discs
- Sports injuries
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Sprains and strains
- Joint pain
- Poor posture
- Work-related injuries
Any of these injuries or symptoms can impact the function of the joints and/or muscles and should be evaluated for treatment before they become chronic (ongoing) or debilitating.
Our chiropractic care team understands that finding the root cause of your pain necessitates a comprehensive approach.
Assessing your complaint thoroughly allows us to apply a treatment and care plan that can eliminate your pain. We aim not simply to mask your painful symptoms with a quick “Band-Aid” fix.
We look for the cause of your pain and stop it for good.

Our solutions and services
Determining the best chiropractic care plan for your individual needs is essential to your recovery process. We pull from several techniques to ensure you get the most out of your time with us.
Spinal Manipulation, known as chiropractic adjustments
Using a precise manual thrust applied to targeted joints in the spine and pelvis, we will restore joint function and movement. This increases joint mobility, decreases or alleviates pain, and promotes healthy movement and function.
Manual adjustments often offer immediate relief.
Instrument assisted adjustments
Although we primarily use manual, hands-on techniques in our chiropractic office, we can also provide instrument-assisted adjustments.
We will recommend instrument-assisted adjustments when we believe that manual manipulation will not be well tolerated by the patient.
For example, some patients in severe pain initially require a less aggressive approach to treatment before providing manual adjustments.
We may also use instrument-assisted adjusting tools to mobilize or soften tight and restricted muscle tissue before a manual adjustment.
This type of treatment may also be indicated for older individuals who suffer from diseases that decrease bone mass and strength, such as osteoporosis and osteopenia.
ArthroStim
This handheld device is designed to further support adjustments through its powerful 12-14 thrusts per second. Its actions offer a much more rapid thrust than that by hands alone.
ArthroStim can be used as a tool to decrease muscle tension or to adjust the joints. Patients who are familiar with Activator and the Impulse IQ adjustment tools find that ArthroStim offers a similar treatment with similar results.
Laser therapy
Class IV laser uses light applied at specific wavelengths and at a specific energy level to penetrate through the skin and fat and be absorbed by the soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
When light absorbs into the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, a process called photobiomodulation occurs.
Photobiomodulation is a scientifically proven principle that states: When light is absorbed by soft tissues such as muscle and ligament, this results in faster cell metabolism. Simply put, this means your tissues heal faster than your body is naturally capable of.
Class IV laser also helps to reduce inflammation associated with conditions such as tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and rotator cuff strain/impingement.
We often use laser treatments on athletes and active patients; however, it can benefit many conditions and help patients in all stages of life. We’ve helped patients get ready to compete in a professional and collegiate competitions on the same day as helping others recover from hip and knee surgeries.
Massage therapy
Massage therapy restores damaged soft tissues, alleviates physical and mental stress, and offers muscle relaxation. Our licensed massage therapist provides techniques to complement our chiropractic care. Using this comprehensive approach, we’ve seen patients find safer, more effective, and faster resolutions to their pain.

Start Your Journey to Recovery
“I have had the worst shoulder and back pain for YEARS. As a grad student and a restaurant server, I’ve put my body through the wringer. I finally got to a point where I knew I needed to start seeing a chiropractor regularly, and I’m so, so glad I found Dr. Brummert!
I’ve been going to Dr. Brummert almost every week for the last few months, and I seriously feel like a new person. The initial appointment was spent going over all the different areas that have caused me difficulties, and we developed a treatment plan that was super personalized. Now, we schedule my appointments based on how I’m feeling and/or if I have a lot going on the following week. This flexibility is so, so helpful!
Each adjustment focuses on different skeletal and muscle issues. I appreciate how Dr. Brummert always explains what he’s doing throughout the adjustment. Plus, he has also given me tons of tips on things I can do during the week to help keep the tension away!
All in all - I am so grateful to have found Brummert Family Chiropractic! I tell all my friends to go to Dr. Brummert, and I’m excited to schedule with Paige, the new massage therapist! If you’re looking for an affordable, caring chiropractor in State College, you definitely need to go to Dr. Brummert!”
